CATS Service Information

The CATS transportation program was established to provide the citizens of Covington County an easy-to-use, low-cost method of transportation.

CATS vans are equipped with wheelchair lifts in order to provide services to the elderly or disabled.

CATS services are available to all Covington County residents regardless of age and/or ability.  The system offers demand-response scheduled trips, picking up passengers at the door and transporting them to doctor appointments, nutritional sites, pharmacies, grocery and clothing stores, beauty/barber shops, work, and even social events.

Our goal is to provide high quality, cost-effective transportation services to all residents of Covington County, utilizing safe, courteous and responsible personnel.

8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m. (On Road)

8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. (Office)

CATS will be closed on all County Holidays.

HOW TO SCHEDULE A RIDE

1. Call (334) 428-2667 by 3:00 p.m. at least the day before the desired day of transport.  Same day trips are based on availablity.

2. Be prepared to give the dispatcher the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Your Physical Address and Directions to that Address.
  • Date and Time of Requested Transport.
  • Your Telephone Number.
  • Destination (Address of Destination if Needed).
  • All Additional Stops.
  • Whether You Have Need of the Wheelchair Lift or Other Special Assistance.

There are at times, unavoidable variances in schedules so passangers are asked to be ready for pick up 30 minutes prior to scheduled pick-up time.  Passengers should also be prepared for a 30 minutes delay in pick-up time.

For the convenience and comfort of all passengers, there will be no smoking, eating, or drinking allowed on any CATS vehicle.

Fares (Subject to Change):

  • $4.00 Round Trip* (within City limits)
  • $7.00 Round trip* (outside City limits)
  • $8.00 Round trip* (within County)

*Stops in different towns will be 1 round trip fare plus 1-way fare.

**Children 5 and under ride free, but must be accompanied by an adult; all ages over 5 will be FULL FARE.

***Two stops within the same town are included in the price of round trip; all additional stops will be $1.00 per stop.

****Fares are due when passengers board the CATS vehicle.  MUST HAVE CORRECT CHANGE.

*****Non-medicaid provider.  Vouchers must be redeemed and fares paid in cash.  

Handicap Accessibility:

MANUAL wheelchair passenger(s) that require more assistance than the curb to curb provided by the driver will be required to have an assistant to accompany them for transport.  All person(s) riding to assist wheelchair passengers ride free of charge.*
