Commissioner Bragg Carter was born on September 14,1953, in Andalusia, Alabama (Covington County). He is a graduate of Straughn High School (Class of 1971) and LBW Junior College (Class of 1990). Commissioner Carter worked with Covington Electric from 1973-1985 and was a farmer until 1996. After being elected to the Covington County Commission, Commissioner Carter has devoted all his time to his public duties.
Commissioner Carter has served as Vice Chairman of the Covington County Commission, a Director of the Alabama Vegetative Management Society, Director of the Wiregrass Resource Conservation and Development, a Director of the E911 board and a member of Oakey Ridge Baptist Church.
Commissioner Carter is married to the former Ms. Debbie Owens and they have two daughters: Kim and Missy.
A Democrat, Commissioner Carter is currently serving his fourth term on the Covington County Commission (Terms are as follows: 1996-2000; 2000-2004; 2004-2008; 2008-2012).
