CATS operates throughout Covington County providing a prompt, easy-to-use, low-cost transportation service that is available to ALL area residents, regardless of age and/or ability. The system offers 24-hour demand response scheduled trips, picking residents up at their door and transporting them to doctor appointments, nutritional sites, pharmacies, grocery and clothing stores, beauty/barber shops, work, and even social events. CATS currently has one 15-passenter van and four lift-equipped vehicles.
How to Use CATS:
To utilize CATS resources, you should call at least 24 hours in advance of the time you will need to be picked up. The advance notice allows CATS staff time to organize schedules that provide for prompt, efficient service.
When calling for service, provide the dispatcher with the following information:
Name of passenger
Day and time of requested transport
Destination address
Telephone number
Complete address and directions
Whether the passenger needs a mechanical lift or other special assistance
Please call if you must cancel. Untimely cancellations may be subject to a “No Show” fee. “No Shows” will be charged one-half the regular fare.
Passengers should be prepared for pick-up 30 minutes prior to scheduled pick-up time or for a 30 minute delay in pick-up. There are, at times, unavoidable variances in schedules and drivers are allowed to wait three to five minutes only.
There are many residents who utilize the CATS service, so you may make several stops before arriving at your destination. Plan for a slightly longer ride.
For the convenience and comfort of all passengers, there will be no smoking, eating, or drinking allowed on any CATS vehicle.

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday
Fares (Subject to Change):
$3.00 Round trip, within city limits*
$6.00 Round trip, outside city limits but within a 35 mile radius*
$7.00 Round trip, outside 35 mile radius, within county*
*Two stops included in price of round trip; all additional stops are 50¢ each.
Children under the age of three ride free (must be accompanied by adult).
Children age’s three to ten are one-half adult fare (must be accompanied by adult).
Non-medicaid provider. Vouchers must be redeemed and fares paid in cash.
Fare is due when passenger boards CATS vehicle. Please have correct change.
Handicap Accessibility:
CATS is proud to provide reliable, reasonably priced transportation for Covington County citizens who require wheelchairs or have other mobility restrictions. All vehicles are specially equipped with grab rails as well as 8 to 10 inch well-lighted and striped steps. The driver will assist with normal boarding and de-boarding; however, if further assistance is needed, be prepared to have someone accompany you. The person assisting is allowed to ride at no charge.
Advertising:
CATS provides local merchants with the opportunity to purchase advertising space on CATS vehicles. Anyone interested in purchasing advertising should call 334-428-2667.

Biography:
Kevin Kennedy was born on April 21, 1972, in Opp, Alabama (Covington County).
Graduated from Andalusia High School in 1990. Kevin has been employed by the Covington County Commission since November of 2003.
Kevin is a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and also serves on the board of directors since 2009. Kevin is currently assistant chief of the River Falls Volunteer Fire Department.
A member of Buck Creek Baptist church, serving as a teacher, Sunday school director, Building and Grounds chairman, and also as a Deacon, Kevin is married to Paula Kennedy and they have four children: Randi, Erin, Kyle, and Tristan.
